Trop got its start when Tom Dibblee, Roger Sollenberger, and Stephan McCormick put on a series of absurdist variety shows at the Metropolis Café—the Trop—in Milledgeville, Georgia. After Tom and Stephan moved to Los Angeles, the group moved the project online.

Trop publishes criticism, interviews, essays, podcasts, and serialized creative writing, whether fiction or non, along with a serial novel, Acupuncture After the Apocalypse, and The Weather, which features everything from poetry and philosophy to fake crime scene investigations and interviews about pants.

Submission Guidelines

Right now we’re looking for short, funny stuff for The Weather. To get a feel for our sense of humor, we suggest you take a look at the section before you submit. And by short we mean under 800 words, though that limit’s not strict.

We also are looking for answers to the discussion questions or book club questions listed in the backs of bestsellers like Eat, Pray, Love. For an example of this, click here.

And, we’re looking for short, irreverent interviews with authors. For these, the more out-there and off-topic the questions, the better.

You can reach us at weather [dot] submissions [at] tropmag [dot] com. For discussion questions and micro-interviews, please send us a query. For humor writing, send the completed piece as an attachment (.doc or .docx) and pasted into the body of the email.
