A bus crashed yesterday, right into a sound wall outside Norwalk. While about thirty passengers died, one of them, Hal JJ, walked away unharmed. “We was driving along. Pretty fast, but still the speed limit. If you think about it, seventy-five is fast. Then all of a sudden we started veering. Like, veering fast and off the road. I was like, ‘Shit!’ and so was everyone else too. Everyone was scared shitless. And rightfully so, ‘cause when we hit that soundwall, just about all of them died.” Asked to speculate on why the bus started veering, JJ couldn’t say. “I’d just say the bus had the right mind to go one way, and that was the way to sudden death. Well, sudden death, that is, for everybody but me.”
